This movie is set in the 1960s, when two mutant friends, Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr, come together to find out more superhumans/X-Men or mutants like them. But Erik’s ambition of killing the mutant who killed his mother and ruins his life divides the two friends and makes them archenemies for the rest of their lives.
Storyline
The movie opens with Erik Lehnsherr in a Nazi concentration camp in 1944 where scientist Klaus Schmidt, who will later be known as Sebastian Shaw, witnesses him bend a metal gate with his mind when Erik is being separated from his parents. Schmidt takes Erik back to his office and asks him to move a coin with his power. But when he fails to do as he is told, Schmidt kills his mother. Erik’s magnetic powers manifest from his sadness and anger and end up killing two guards and destroying the entire room.
Simultaneously, in New York, Charles Xavier who is a child telepath meets Raven who is a young shapeshifter. Raven is naturally blue-skinned and scaly. Overjoyed by finding someone as different as him, Charles invites Raven to live with his family as his foster sister. That’s how the stories of both Erik and Charles begin. They later take on the names of Magneto and Professor X respectively.

Meanwhile, in 1962, Moira McTaggart who is a CIA agent finds out the existence of mutants and their relationship with Sebastian Shaw. She then invites Charles to work for the US government in recruiting mutants. This movie focuses on the time when Erik Lehnsherr and Charles Xavier were best friends before they became archenemies.
Basic Theme Of X-Men: First Class
In these movies, both of them are shown as two young men who were still discovering their powers and searching for other mutants. Charles Xavier then teams up with Raven, Magneto and a group of other mutants he finds. At the same time, Sebastian Shaw also starts recruiting mutants of his own to create an army to start a nuclear war between the US and Russia. He does all these to destroy the world and increase his powers.

Soon after, Professor X discovers this shocking truth and tries to do everything in his power to stop this evil man who is hell-bent on doing anything to get what he wants. But in between trying to save the world from collapsing, Erik and Charles end up losing their friendship due to Erik’s secret agenda. This agenda soon rips him away from his best friend and every other mutant is made to choose a side. This starts the never-ending feud between Professor X and Magneto.
All the actors in this film do an amazing job of intensifying their respective characters to bring it back to life. The history of the X-Men is being shown in this film and that is what makes it even more exciting and anticipated.
