This is another great installment in the X-Men movie franchise. It shows both the future, the past, and the present at the same time making it even more exciting and interesting. Short Description
The movies open in 2023 where robots called Sentinels are programmed to hunt down and kill mutants along with the humans helping them. A small group of mutant survivors was hiding in Moscow but they were soon found out by the Sentinels and slaughtered. But this group consisted of Kitty Pryde and Bishop and Kitty Pryde sends Bishop’s consciousness in the past to warn the other mutants so that they can be saved.

This group then meets with Professor Charles Xavier, Magneto, Wolverine and Storm at a Chinese temple they were hiding in. This is where Professor explains how the Sentinels work and that they were created and designed by a military scientist known as Bolivar Trask who was assassinated by Mystique in 1973. Mystique gets captured by the government soon after the assassination and they use her DNA to program the Sentinels in such a way which gives them the ability to adapt to any mutant power. Hence, making then invincible.

Professor explains that their only chance at changing the future is to go back in time in 1973 and join Charles Xavier and Magneto to stop Mystique from doing the assassination. However, since only Wolverine can withstand the effects of time travel he is being sent to the past and trusted with the responsibility of stopping Mystique. In the end, they do succeed in stopping Mystique from doing the assassination but that does not stop Bolivar Trask from creating the Sentinels anyway with the help of President Nixon.
Basic Theme of X-Men: Days Of Future Past
The entire film revolves around the doomed future of the mutants and the humans helping them, all of which are happening due to one assassination by Mystique. The movie shows how fate can be altered if we put in all our efforts into something putting aside our differences. It also shows the unity of the entire mutant population and how they try to overcome this problem that will lead to their extinction.
